Musical Wrapup

Time for a little wrap up of this year's musical, Aladdin.

Now, this year has the most impressive cast ever, or at least in my opinion. We did lose a lot of really good actors, but overall, this cast is amazing.

Lets start off with the ensemble. I never really listened hard to the songs, but when I did I was amazed at how great they sound while singing. They were very very clear and in harmony. Plus I was incredibly surprised when I saw how well of actors they all are too. Evertime I look over at them, they are in character. Its amazing. In previous years, the ensemble was great too, but there was always a couple of people who did not get into character completely. But this year is different. They are all concentrated. It really gives a big boost to look over at them and see them all scared to death while looking at Jafar. I thought something was wrong because they all looked horrified. And they also had to learn all of the dances and stuff. Which I can say that I would not have been able to do. It just looks so complicated.

Then lets move on to Scott Newbery. Or Jafar. While, at the start of the year I had no clue who the hell he was. And I was sceptical, mainly because I didn't know who he was. But he whiped away my expectations! He is just so evil and all on stage. And he can keep a strait face all of the time. Which is more I can say for me. He just really gets into his character and I can honestly say that he will be up for the lead part next year.

I saw Morgan, or Jasmine, improve an INCREDIBLE amount from just January to March. It was just mindblowing. And plus she did all of the things that I would expect Jasmine to do. Plus, like Scott, she can keep a strait face. I also found that she was much louder than back in grade 7. Honestly, she didn't need a mic. Heck, neither did anyone else really. Except maybe Thomas, or Iago, only because he had a beak over his face. But I'll get to him later.

Jasmin and Sam did a great job as Aladdin as well. Although, its very hard to compare the two well. Thats because they both play such different characters. We have Jasmin who is more of a confident Aladdin, whilst Sam tunes it down and acts more inocent and.....ummm.....guilable I guess. So a brilliant job by them.

The narrators also did an amazing job. Especially with having to learn all of the dances and everything. To me, I would thinkn that the belly dancing would be hard to learn. And I was also very inpressed with their acting. There were 2 people there who I was surprised by at how well they are at acting. A great job by them. Madison Greening was one of them who, in my opinion, also did a brilliant job at helping to choerograph a lot of the dances and was a know presence on stage. Thereasa Boulos also did a great job and if I remember correctly, was up for the part of genie in the begginning,

Ama, the genie, really helped pump up the stage. Almost everyone else had a mic on them, but she belted it out and sometimes was even louder than the people with the mics, so I was incredibly impressed by her. Plus she played the character about the same way that I would have, so I saw the Genie in her. Plus she came into this from nowhere.

Thomas, or Iago, also did a BRILLIANT job. He had to go up on stage with a, well, throughouly embarrasing costume. And he still kept his cool. Plus he played his character amazingly. He didn't play the character in the same way I would have, and I liked his better, which is saying something because I'm stubborn.

Who else do I have left?.............Oh! The monkey, or Matt. He also did a great job of playing the character, considering that he didn't talk what soever. So he had to do all of his acting by just using his actions, and he did a brilliant job of this. Especially with his face. He really showed a lot of character.

The same goes for Madison, the carpet, who also did a great job considering that she didn't talk whatsoever. She did a great job of using her face and body to relay messages.

The guards had great chemistry and gave that piece of comical relief. That really helped out a lot. Plus they really matched and went well together. Plus their laughs were hilarious.

And Nick, or Razoul, really did a good job of bossing around the guards, without over powering Jafar. You know, he made himself sound powerful, but not more powerful than Jafar.

Mrs. Turner and Mme. Little also, as usual, were a lot of help. They had to, first off, plan all of the cheorography and all of that. Which is a lot of work. And they, especially Mrs. Turner, really give a lot of good ideas. Just by listening and looking at them. They give out amazing ideas, even when they don't plan on it.

Now I'm sure I am forgetting a couple of people, so if so, I'm sorry. But heck, I wrote as much as I could :P.
